Savannah has a background in electrical and software engineering and is now applying her skills to answer biological and ecological questions. She is interested in understanding how anthropogenic and non-anthropogenic environmental factors affect aquatic ecosystems and how human industries can better coexist alongside nature. Specifically, she is interested in spatiotemporal dynamics of ecosystems, animal behavior, predator-prey interactions, modeling, and applying knowledge to improve ecosystem monitoring and management. She is doing work with biosensors detecting gaping patterns of Eastern oysters in the Great Bay.
She is also passionate about community and citizen science and moved to the Seacoast area from Oregon, where she was involved in citizen science projects on snowy plovers on the Oregon coast, northern-legged frogs in the Portland area, and some SCUBA diving reef monitoring in the Maldives. In her free time, she likes snorkeling, kayaking, drawing, crocheting, and spending time outside.
